Michael Harling

Michael Harling

Michael Harling grew up Kinderhook, New York. Several years ago—and through no fault of his own—he found himself living in Britain. Clearly ill-adapted for life in a foreign land, he began chronicling his misadventures on his blog, Postcards From Across the Pond, which became the basis for his early books.

Tired of being a professional expat, he then wrote Finding Rachel Davenport, a comic caper/thriller set in southeast England, which was published by Prospera Press.

When two grandsons came along, Michael wrote a simple tale for them involving a Magic Cloak. That tale grew into an eight-book Fantasy/Adventure series called The Talisman. The project began in 2013 and was finished in 2024.

During the writing of The Talisman series, a granddaughter was born, and fairness dictates that something is written for her. Therefore, Michael is currently planning a novel involving his currently nine-year-old granddaughter. He’s says it’s gong to be a cross between Nancy Drew and Harry Hole.

Michael currently lives in Sussex with his wife, Shonagh.
