St. Maartin

[Album]     [SCUBA]      [First Dive]     [St. Maartin]     [Saba]

What can I say, St. Maartin was paradise.  Unlike Upstate NY lakes, the water was warm and crystal clear.  I went diving almost every day.  On the first day, I brought along one of those disposable, water-proof cameras.  They are only good to 15 feet but I managed to get a few underwater shots.  They do not do justice to the sea-nery, however.

The Waterfront
This is the waterfront where the dive boats docked.

The Boat
Here we are bobbing in the Caribbean.
In front of me is Trish, a woman from Canada who had never been
SCUBA diving in her life.  She had taken a 3-hour
course just prior to getting on the boat.

Trish
Trish, like myself on my first dive, is having trouble staying down.
She isn't a bit afraid, but she needs to hold on to the rope to
keep from bobbing to the surface.

Sean
This is Sean, our guide, trying to help Trish.

Sean and Trish
This is Sean, holding Trish down so she doesn't float away.
Eventually, she was able to maneuver on her own.
After this shot, my camera reached its
maximum depth and stopped working

The Beach
Looking out to sea after a day of diving.  In the background is Saba.

Sunset on St. Maartin
A Caribbean Sunset.
