   The Wells Cathedral

This is the Wells Cathedral in Somerset.
We visited this on our way home from Exmoor.  This Cathedral, like a lot of things in England, is older than dirt.

The West Front, containing the largest gallery of mediaeval sculpture in the world.

The interior: These 'Scissor Arches' are " . . . a simple yet stunning design, often mistaken as modern.  They are a mediaeval solution to the sinking tower foundations."

This is the Bishop's Palace, or, more precisely, the moat and defensive wall surrounding the Bishop's Palace.  I bet he doesn't get bothered by Jehovah's Witnesses and Amway Salesmen.

The Vicar's Close, built to house the men of the choir.  It is the oldest continuously inhabited street in Europe.

Not far from Wells is The Glastonbury Tor, the legendary site of Camelot.
