The Buildings

Brussels is big, NYC big, with towering monoliths intermixed with medieval monuments.  It's a sprawling, vibrant place quite unlike the laid-back Amsterdam.

There are a lot more cars there, as well.

18th century shopping mall.

The Grand Market.  Full of buildings older than our country.

More of the Grand Market.

And more.

Saturday, 7 June -- Morning
We walked to the Grand Market looking for food.  It was mobbed with tourists.  There was a huge TV erected in the square and everywhere people were selling stuff and begging or busking.  It was very hot and humid and it was worse for all the people.  We finally squeezed through the Square to a side street and had brunch (at nearly 1:00 o'clock) at LeCicio, where you can get a very nice ham and cheese baguette and a cup of coffee for under 5 euros.
