The Group
The main portion of my trip was spent hiking with HF Holiday Tours,
a London-based outfit.  Therefore, most of my trail mates were British.
I met up with them on the afternoon of 18 August.  Here's the whole gang.

George and Carol Jarvis, the token Canadians.

Margaret, Terry and Lotti Barndens.

On either end of this group are Jean-Denis and Mireille Merle, the token French couple.
Between them are: Myself, the token American, Shonagh and Judith.

Ros Bufton.  Sorry, Ros, this is the
best I could do with your piccy.
Ros runs a B&B in Wells, check it out:

Richard Westwood, Jon Martin, our fearless leader, and Bob Dawe.

Journal Excerpt:  18 August, 8:57 AM – God Bless America!
Food here is difficult.  I went out yesterday in search of a store and some sustenance but all I discovered is that the pubs here do not sell food.  I stopped in for a pint, discovered this little fact and was going to leave to attempt to locate a real restaurant but instead ended up having a lively time with a Joe Quinn and his quasi-girlfriend, Louis . . .

. . .
I got up at 8:00 and still felt a little out of synch.  Nothing too bad but, boy, was I hungry!  I tried a few places but they looked odd and I wasn't sure how to go about getting seated, etc., so, confused, I retreated.  I was fairly faint with hunger and then found a McDonalds!

So now, fed and primed with coffee (as lousy here as it is in the US McDonalds, I might add) I'm off to see some sights and return to Shannon to locate my tour group.
