York
7 - 11 February 2005

In early February 2005 we spent a week in York.  It's a lovely town and I recommend a visit.

The Shambles, one of the best preserved
medieval towns in Europe.

No trip to York is complete without a visit to York Minster, the grand cathedral in the centre of town.  You can't miss it.

York, like most ancient settlements, is a walled city.
Much of the wall is still intact.

York's streets are lively, with many pubs, restaurants, shops and opportunities to be entertained..

A view of the town with the Minster in the background.

Having been settled by Vikings there are, naturally, real Vikings there.  Keep an eye on your womenfolk.
